Parents Donate Dead Son's Organs To Save Other Patients

We've seen this story many times; a Chinese gamer partakes in a grueling marathon of Internet gaming and then passes away. These stories rarely have a good ending, however for five people in Guangzhou, China the untimely death of one young man means a new life.

Reported on Sunday by the New Express paper, 18 year-old Guo Quan had passed out after a 24-hour gaming session at a local Internet cafe in May. After several attempts to save his life, Guo ended up brain dead but alive on life support. Yesterday, his parents decided to pull the plug and donate his organs to people who needed it.

Guo had originally left his home in Yunnan province for work in neighbouring Guangdong province. Guo had received a job working at a shoe factory making shoes. During his time working at he shoe factory, Guo was introduced to Internet cafe's and online games by a co-worker. In the process Guo started playing long sessions, often for 24 hours a day.

On May 19, Guo had finished a 24 hour session, as he was walking out of the net cafe, he collapsed and stopped breathing. Emergency systems arrived on the scene after passersby called dialed 120 (China's 911). Unfortunately for Guo's parents doctors weren't able to resuscitate their son.

After learning that their son's body could be used to save other patients, Guo's parents decided to donate his organs to other patients in need. Guo's kidneys, liver, and corneas were transplanted into five different patients in Guangzhou.

When asked why they did what they did, Guo's father answered, "Our son died very young. It is very tragic that it happened, we hope that he can help renew someone else's life."

Organ donation in China is still in its infancy with the majority of donated organs being harvest organs of dead convicts. That's not to say that there is no organ donation in China, there is. In an interview with the WHO in November of 2012, Dr. Wang Haibo, director of the China Organ Transplant Response System Research Center of the Ministry of Health said that China's main issue with Organ donation is that the government system is still behind the times.

Sure Seems Like Jaleco Is Either AWOL, Or Worse, Dead

Remember Bases Loaded? And Wii role-playing game Ougon no Kizuna (above)? Or that Japanese truck driving game? The company known for those titles, Jaleco, seems to have fallen off the map.

This afternoon, Kotaku phoned Jaleco's Tokyo office. There was no answer, and a recording said the number was "no longer in service". As noted via Biglobe News, the official blog for Jaleco president, Takayasu Katou, is also no longer online.

First reported back in 2009, "Jaleco" was sold off to another company called Game Yarou. Around that time, Jaleco claimed that it was working on new titles. Later that same year, Jaleco did invite users to submit designs for a game called Wizman's World—a stunt that apparently backfired in an amusing way.

But since summer 2011, Jaleco hasn't updated its website. It's unclear wasn't going on. Jaleco president Katou was also one of the industry's more outspoken characters. Online in Japan, people seem worried about this seemingly sudden disappearance.

If Jaleco went under in 2011 and is no more, one of the sad things is how long it took the internet to realize this.

Kotaku will update this post, should Jaleco comment on its status.

EA Sports Developer Calls Wii U 'Crap' and Nintendo 'Walking Dead'

At the end of per weeks time in which Digital Artistry confirmed it wasn't creating a factor for the Wii U, one of the application technicians in EA Sports' Canada and the united states studio room, in a sequence of since-deleted tweets posts, disparaged the system as "crap" and recommended Manufacturers should quit on components completely.

"The Wii U is junk. Less highly effective than an Console 360. Inadequate online/store. Strange product," tweeted Bob Summerwill, detailed as a mature application professional at EA Canada and the united states, in a response to a tweets update publishing a weblink about EA's no-Wii U information. "Nintendo are strolling deceased at this factor."

Though the tweets posts, created beginning last night early morning, have since been removed, screenshots of them grown across several websites, most noticeably on NeoGAF.

Summerwill didn't let up after that first tweets update. "Nintendo are still managing like it's 1990," he goes on, saying it should have gotten out of the components company and created its Mario and Tale of Zelda businesses exclusives on either the PlayStation 4 or next Console.

"Instead, they make this terrible system," he included. Then, of EA's drawback from creating for Wii U, he said, "It is an absolutely deliberate choice to concentrate our sources on marketplaces which actually issue."

Kotaku has attempt to get in touch with Summerwill. An EA Activities spokesperson at the publisher's head office provided this statement:

EA has a powerful collaboration and an effective contract with Manufacturers to create activities for the WiiU. Last season we launched Huge Impact 3 and several of our EA Activities headings on that system. So far, we have not declared any new headings for Wii U this season, but that does not prevent more activities later on.

However, previously this weeks time, EA spokesperson Mark Brownish confirmed to Kotaku that the organization has zero activities under growth for Wii U. Later reviews confirmed that indicates FIFA, one of the greatest promoting activities among all styles, will not launch a edition for the system this season. That goes for Madden NFL 25 as well, another tremendous supplier in Northern America.

Summerwill's feedback remember another Twitter flap not lengthy ago; in beginning Apr, Adam Orth, then a innovative home for Microsof organization, said that those with bookings about a system with an always-on need should just "deal with it." Microsof organization later apologized for content, and Orth is said to be no more with the organization.
